Current Status
What is happening now
Light Room sessions are currently running with a small group of children in Gaza.
Sessions take place on a weekly basis, using simple creative materials and guided by local facilitators who are trusted by the community.
This work is active.
It is not complete.
It is not guaranteed.
What the Light Room provides today
Right now, the Light Room offers:
A protected indoor space
Small-group creative sessions
Consistent adult presence
A quiet, predictable rhythm
Children come to draw, sit, and focus — without pressure to speak or perform
What limits continuity
The Light Room operates with very limited resources.
Continuity depends on:
Availability of art materials
Ability to support local facilitators
Keeping the physical space accessible
There is no buffer.
There is no reserve.
Support directly determines whether sessions continue week to week.
What we are learning
From the sessions so far, we are observing:
Small groups feel safer
Familiar facilitators build trust
Art before words reduces pressure
Consistency matters more than scale
These learnings are shaping how we proceed — carefully and slow
What comes next (and what doesn’t)
We are not expanding rapidly.
We are not adding new locations yet.
We are not making promises about scale.
Our immediate focus is simple:
Keep sessions running
Maintain the weekly rhythm
Protect the space
Anything beyond this depends on sustained support.
Why support matters now
The Light Room is a live space.
If materials run out, sessions pause.
If facilitators cannot return, continuity breaks.
If continuity breaks, safety erodes.
This is why support matters now — not later.
